Unit 2: Energy and Bungee Jumping
In the second unit students analyze bungee jumping in terms of energy concepts. They perform and write reports for two major experiments - kinetic energy, and elastic energy - and do several smaller ones that they don't write lab reports for. The unit culminates with a bungee jumping challenge in which students try to get their bottle to fall as close to the floor as possible before their rubber band bungee pulls it back up again. They will create a spreadsheet that will calculate how much string to add to their system so that they can drop it down several flights of stairs. There will also be a unit test and a quiz halfway through the unit.
Weeks 7-8
Goals:
Make a scientific argument using the claims/evidence structure.
Make a Spreadsheet that calculates distance for any speed, acceleration, and texting time.
Review 4 relationships, velocity and acceleration for unit test.
Binder Table of Contents:
1. System Analysis
2. Claims/Evidence/Reasoning argument about cat
3. Review Packet
